Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Any ideas who makes the smallest fitting helmets? Last year we hired the smallest size we could find in resort, which was far too large. The smallest I have found so far this year is 48cm, tried on and still too big (even though his head measures more than this the fit is very loose on the tightest setting) and it is also in quite a large shell, which must throw the balance off having such a massive bulk on your head, so also who makes a more compact shell I can look at? Or should I try looking at helmets designed for other sports?

Just picked up a helmet from Decathlon (https://www.decathlon.co.uk/jr-d-ski-helmet-hkid-500-g-id_8494017.html). My 3yr old has a massive head, but I bought him the larger helmet (53-58cm) which is slightly too big for him; rationale is he’ll get more use out of it. We will pack it out with some thin strips of padding (sticky backed foam) to get it fitting snug.
We’re also having him wear it round the house so he gets comfortable with the extra weight.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Try the salomon Grom Helmet. My lad started skiing in it at 3 and has just outgrown it at 7. Loads of adjustment in them

PS they go down to 49cm and you can now buy them with a visor if your little one struggles with goggles
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

we had one of these from age 3 for son#2, and they sell additional ear muff type things for cold weather - the only thing is I can't see a UK supplier, don't know if they ship into the UK though and how much that would cost. Their XXS goes down to 47cm and they have a magnetic clip that was easy for small fingers to do up.

We just got this
K2
one from Absolute Snow for our 2 (nearly 3) year old. XS is a 48cm but it comes with plenty of extra pads to further reduce the size. Is pretty light too!
