Just out in Val Thorens for the Xmas week and pre booked our lift passes with tour operator. They didn't provide carte neige option. (Not allowed to sell insurance ?). We went to ticket office and had it added to both lift passes for €2.9 per day per person so all is good. I thought I'd add this for info as we didn't have that info prior to booking but apologies if you all already knew

They were "On offer" so added them to the holiday but yes we normally buy in resort.

NEVER is a fairly clear word , but why if a free pass was on offer from a TO surely you wouldnt ignore this.

Hopefully that explains why your never should really have a caveat.

It was actually buy one get one half price. But when we got to resort I could buy two for similar price as the offer. So Never buy from TO is faìr advice but I never rule out the option

I reckon my 4 free passes with Sunweb are pretty good value, I will be adding Carre Neige when I pick them up though.

They will not be FREE passes just included in the accommodation cost. Many resorts offer prices for accommodation and ski pass especially in off peak weeks.
