I've found myself accidentally skiing in tour mode for a few whole days without noticing. I know this means I'm an idiot. Does it mean I'm good at skiing or bad at skiing? Thanks for helping me decide ;p

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@motdoc, we’ve all done it. Put the fact that you didn’t notice down to flawless technique

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Do you mean walk mode on your boots?

Yarp. Boots only in walk mode. It seems pretty normal? Lange free tour. Not a massive range of motion. But surprised it doesn't really feel off

In an alpine boot with walk mode like the Freetour, there'll not be a massive difference, you'd certainly notice it in a dedicated touring boot!!!

As @KenX, says not a massive difference in alpine boot. In my Pinnacle's, it's enough to make me think I'm on a bad day (I know, nothing unusual) but not "Wah! what the feck!"

I had a pal who we spotted skinning in downhill mode, he hadn’t noticed.

While skinning it’s those little downhill sections that can catch you out:

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I’d say your technique is good Pressure should be on the front of your boots, so you shouldn’t notice much difference as the movement in the freetour is when you move your leg backwards.

There's those that have and those there going to. I have managed one in each.

You know it makes sense.

Happens at least 1/25 tours.
And yes as others have said good technique if you skied ok.
O/H four or so weeks back was skiing a tad back seat and no big surprise as to why.
Few years back we were touring up Mont Yoti Hokkaido, and son of a friend started getting hypothermia, we all stopped naturally and dad trying to help obstreperous son, fifteen mins later we're skiing down and friend skiing like a cock, guide asks me to check the obvious, ski in ascent mode etc but all good.
Only after third line OH notices dad's still has one skin on, in all the mayhem of getting son sorted said dad did not transition his second ski so skied down with one skin still on !!!!!!!!

You wouldnt be able to ski in my touring boots and not know it. The range of motion is brilliant in the Dynafit boits

@motdoc, You can even use this as an excuse. After any embarrasing fall --- look at your boots and mumble (loudly) about tour mode....

Its always useful to have a collection of alibi's to cover up skiing like a pillock. I am always adding to mine!
