Poster: A snowHead

Some discussion in the 'Guess a ski area' thread about the start/finish point of this old Tignes lift.
It connected Le Lavachet to Le Lac ; ran until late to enable revellers a safe return to their billets....
Anybody remember its name and route ??

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

It's in a book which is in Tignes, I'll look when I get back. It was gone before I went to Tignes for the first time in 97. But I know Stewart Woodward remembers them, but then he is getting on a bit

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

As far as I remember they were just called the cages.
From le lac at the side of escale blanche to le lavachet near where the new car park is.
This is before we had 24hr bus service.

I first stayed in Tignes in 1990 and those cages weren't there then. The picture makes Lavachet look like a low security prison. If you escape, you perish by freezing.

Must be a life sentence as they're still there. That was the view from our windows in Le Taos a week or so ago.
