Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi all,
Hoping for some advice on an upcoming last minute trip at the end of January...
flying in to Milan from Hong Kong with the wife and 3 young kids and looking for recommendation on where to go.
Due to the long flight, prefer <2.5 hrs from MXP, private transfer ok, so long as not outrageously expensive or happy with direct bus/train (but would prefer not to connect with kids, bags, gear, etc)
I am an advanced/expert skier, so looking for somewhere where the kids will be ok in a decent ski school and i won't be bored on endless groomers.
thanks everyone!
apologies, if posted in wrong part of the forum

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Cortina is probably out of the picture, due to distance from MXP, but the nursery slopes there are some of the most extensive in Europe and there are some challenges to be had on piste and serious off-piste with a guide. Beautiful town too.
Cervinia is probably the closest to MXP, but isn't a pretty resort. It has some great terrain for kids to progress onto and you would have the challenges over the mountain in Zermatt.
Courmayeur is cool, gets busy with Milanese at weekends. Not a huge ski area, nursery slopes mid-mountain with some challenges above and some good off-piste if the snow is good.
The Monte Rosa area is known for its challenges, but not sure how well set up it would be for kids to progress.
Not sure about transfers, I always hire a car and drive.
Madonna di Campiglio might be a good shout too, but it is quite a distance from MXP.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I think Champoluc would suit you perfectly, specially if you book with Ski-2 as they do the transfer and have a really good ski school. https://ski2champoluc.com/
I don’t often do package trips so I’ve only used Ski2 once but I was impressed with their set up.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@HKskier, I'd second the Ski-2 rec. We only hear good things about them.

Sounds like Champoluc is well set up for kids then.
Plenty of challenges in the wider Monterosa area for advanced skiers too.

Another Ski2 recommendation, and Champoluc is a lovely little resort.
