Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sierra cement building material ... this should make the good base but ... most snowfall at this time is very wet, good for setting the base but then January high pressure sets in and nobody knows how would the rest of the winter develop. IME, winter starts later and ends later in the Sierra's. It is not unusual to have the best snow conditions in March/early April with the season extending to late May.

Pineapple Express, when this system hits there could be a lot of snowfall in a very short period of time. We are talking meters of snow in matter of days. Not the best ski quality snow, at times very heavy with high water content (1:Cool but still snow ... And the tree skiing in California is some of the best in the world !!!

Don't know the original poster, but I can tell you the first 4-5feet at Mammoth were super light, unfortunately. Think face shots and core shots. The next 2 to 3 feet came in a bit wetter. Better for base. This weekend we are going to get another 2 to 3 feet.

Mammoth will be 100% open this weekend, pending weather!
