Anyone managed to blag 2 pairs in one bag (plus conventional luggage) on Swiss flights and if so any tips.
Also interested to know of any refusals

Yes - it is not a problem - as long as you didn't purchase the economy light ticket.
If you purchase the classic or flex economy you get one piece of checked luggage up to 23kg and a checked ski bag. If you purchase the light ticket and then pay separately for a checked bag you will not qualify for ski carriage.
I have flown swiss on the LHR/LCY - GVA route multiple times with 2 pairs of skis in the bag same on Lufthansa to Munich and they have never asked to look inside the bag or asked do you have more than one pair of skis.
[Edit] - And I use a double ski roller bag that I load up with all sorts of bits and bobs and the bag usually comes in at the 20kg+ mark

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I've done it. Also had 2 x hold bags (paid extra for one), both slightly over the limit (going out for a season), the check in bloke didn't bat an eye lid.

Yes , got to do with the fact AFTER you check in your ski bag, you bring them to the oversized luggage hatch

Perfect - many thanks for the prompt responses. Looks like I shouldn't have any issues and in fact @Dr John and @extremerob seem to have tested this to the limit

@dublin2, I've had a ski bag re-weighed once or twice and compared to the weight on the luggage tag issued at the checkin desk. Also and more common than not they don't even ask to weigh the ski bag and just print the tag and attach it - maybe they assign an average weight for a ski bag???

One small downside about Swiss is that they have an 8kg limit on the cabin bag, whereas EJ and BA are to all intents and purposes unlimited
I don't know how strictly they enforce this, but I have on occasion had my bag size checked by Swiss and Air France

@Whitters, I've flown Swiss many many times and never had my cabin bag weighed.
