MPi, most basic cover with the maximum excess to get the price right down, then be sensible with your Kit (skis/board/Lap top etc) and lock your accom every time you go out so you don't get anything nicked.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Quick thread bump. Daughter about to head out to Austria for season- could be a bit short but still need to get her covered. MPI still seems pretty good comprehensive and well priced.
Any advice- apart from the obvious of its not worth it as the season isn’t going to happen but we’re already well down that road!

Thanks @telford_mike. I thought it’s what we’d go for but great to have personal confirmation

I have been going through several policies with my son (still hoping to spend winter in France but time will tell) and we decided that this year above all others each one involves some kind of compromise. The covid travel insurance article compiled by Which was very helpful. When looking at their list of all policies we used cancellation cover, covid medical cover whilst abroad and level of cover when travelling against fcdo advice as the three main factors we balanced up. Stuff like valuables cover, loss of luggage, delay etc sat down the list this year. Of the policies offering cover when travelling against fcdo advice most offer no cover for CV if that is the reason for the advice so ruled them out for us. I would certainly advise checking and carefully reading a few policies as the things you might 'normally' look for or expect as standard may not be there this year. We renewed his ECHIC as a matter of course and will buy the carre neige addition to his lift pass.

The shortest season ever- out Saturday course cancelled Sunday home at a rush Tuesday. This generation are having it really bad.
For info MPI insurance cancelled in 14 day cool off. Initially told only entitled to 50% refund but after some pressure (and pointing out her being covered by family insurance policy ”non-seasonniare” travel anyway) 100% refund.
Full refund for instructor course as well.

If anyone does get out for Seasonaire work this year - can't recommend MPI highly enough. Fantastic when son became ill and hospitalised whilst working in Niseko last season. At one point I had to call them in the middle of the night our time to urgently get payment to the hospital - I was able to get through to a real person, who was able to sort out what could have been a very stressful situation immediately. Definitely worth every penny we paid for the insurance.

That really sucks - I hope she gets another chance to do a season. Other than perhaps those in care homes, I think the 16-25s or so are really the worst hit by Corona.
