(I was originally going to Bulgaria with the whole family, but plans have changed.)
I'm taking my ten year old son on his first ski trip. I need recommendations re:
> Resorts for beginners.
> Catered chalet (a must as I'd like to talk to adults occasionally).
> Good ski schools that will provide three to four hours tuition a day for both of us (different groups obviously).
Ideally I'd like to keep it under £1500.

@marodo2712, what's your ski level. St Foy in France is small, great beginners area, low lift pass prices. Still enough terrain for you may be, but easy to get back to the nursery slopes to pick up junior from school.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@marodo2712, La Rosiere would be ideal, good terrain for beginners, good choice of ski schools, wide variety of catered chalets, it's Ski Esprit's most popular resort, their website should be worth a look as it's exactly opposite the main ski lift from the village. Lots of information on the tourist office website www.larosiere.net where you can see how much snow has fallen already there are also details of lift pass prices, either just for La Ros or including the link to Italy, IMO they are the best value in the alps.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

£750pp for a catered chalet + flights + transfers + lessons + lift pass + equipment is going to be pretty difficult to find.

La Plagne with Silver Ski.
We've been with them a few times, most recently 2018 and they were ok.
Nothing fancy but not too expensive.
From our experience they seem to employ more mature chalet hosts which I see as a very positive thing.
It's a great ski area, plenty of easy blues.
Not used them but I've heard good things about Oxygene ski school.

That is a low season week and as only 2 of you, would suggest go last minute.
However Sunweb has packages coming in including flights for just under 1k including flights, transfer, lift passes and ski hire which I would reckon is hard to beat! Leaves you £500 for lessons and food.

@NickyJ, looks cool, I'll keep my eyes open.
@Tom Doc, look good, but it covers both Christmas and his 10ty birthday. (The only doable date was 21-28/12 in La Plagne 1800)
@Mr.Egg, I've been on that site so much I think they're going to call the police on me! I've stayed in Canazie and I wasn't overly impressed (though the Sella Ronda is, of course, great.

You know it makes sense.

Esprit do a single parent deal in La Rosiere, if you go certain weeks your son could go for almost free. You have to phone to get the prices. Me and kiddo went for about £900 last year. It's got a great childrens area nearby and fun ski crosses for when he gets more adventurous.
