Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Is Alps D’Huez snow record okay for trip 2-6 April 2020

Looking at a boys long weekend .
We know that 3 valleys would be more reliable but have found a nice hotel in alps d Huez and better flights etc and would fancy a change .
How reliable is the snow record at that time of year ?

Probably enough snow (quantity), but much of Alpe d'Huez faces south so can get very slushy in late spring.

We were there around that time this year, was great fun. Crispy in the morning and a blast on the softer snow in the afternoon. Depends which slopes as some were tracked out and heavy going late afternoon, overall it was really good with plenty of slopes to choose from.

Skied there over Easter in 2016 and it was average to poor below 1800m. I wouldn't go back.

I managed to board down the champagne run on the last day of the season last April. 3300 down to 1100. The last bit is a very nice tree lined black and yes it was a ribbon of slush in a green spring meadow but well enough kept and really good fun, loved it. Went out on my road bike in the afternoon.

South facing - spray and pray or coral reef if the sun doesn't make it out.

This south facing stuff is a bit overdone. There is plenty of stuff which is north/north-west facing and quite a lot of high altitude skiing

IMV if you are red run skiers or above you should be able to find plenty to do. If not you’ll be a bit more restricted as to where you can ski and may be stuck with runs which get the most sun. This will probably still be fine. But if it’s a low snow year and/or very warm these runs may suffer
