Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snowboard servicing - workmate

 Poster: A snowHead

I'm starting servicing our skis and boards. My set up will be fairly simple, using a workmate, as we don't have anywhere suitable to mount vices. For doing the edges on the snowboard, is it OK to clamp the snowboard directly in the jaws of the workmate (obviously with a towel of something to protect it)?

Why not make a jig to hold the board and clamp the jig using your workbench
Should be lots of ideas on google images

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I will make something if I need to, but do I need to? I'm trying to cut down on effort and extra stuff lying around the house.

I’ve done this plenty of times. Works ok but much easier to use a jig or something. Bindings will probably get in the way.

These are cheap and work fine. Clamp to a length of wood, stick that in the workmate or across a couple of chairs

I use a €50 workmate I bought in Weldons. It's perfect.

You need to take your bindings off. I clamp the whole board for doing the edges and clamp the binding screws (I have Burton ICS boards) when waxing and buffing.

I also clamp my skis/binding in the centre slot, with special clips to hold the brakes open.

You will need a big dust sheet too!
