Saw this on Ceefax last night. Is it normal to close so early? Surely there is still some decent snow above mid station

Plenty of snow according to all the Skiwelt webcams but the season end date is 2 April, seems strange looking at blue skies and empty slopes at midday.

As the season shifts later I imagine resorts will have to rethink closing dates. However the resort and mountain staff will have made summer commitments so they don't have much choice. Funny, though, that they cannot open just a few lifts in these circumstances - that must surely be feasable

I'm sure someone told me years ago that parts of Austria has agreements in place to shut on a specific date, to protect wildlife or wild plants/trees etc

stanton, will it really be that quiet in St Anton? We're thinking of going for the week starting the 16th of April but don't want to go if there'll be no one about.

Only the higher resorts reamin open untill after Easter/early May however even in resorts like St Anton/Ischgl/Solden the tuesday immediately after Easter you can see the tumble weed rolling through the towns, the places are DEAD
