THIS IS TO FIND THE SNOWHEADS TOP TEN CURRENT SKIS TO BUY OR HIRE
We'll give this a try and see how it goes.
Each of you may compile a top ten of Current Skis available to buy or hire and each week post them on this thread.
Every friday night i'll arange the lists a compile a Snowheads top ten.
I hope this will then work as a usefull tool for us all to use when on hols' hiring or buying.
I'll start this week with the statisics from our shop, rental and sales, as that's my point of reference.
This Weeks Top Ten:

Can't really play this as per the rules but these would be on my ski wishlist
and depending on the conditions the places they occupied may change, so in no definitive order

How good are these gloves? Only seen them online and I'd like to try them. Might pop into that shop in Fulham (47 Degrees?) to see if they still have them.
My wish list:
9S WC for general on-piste
9X WC for skiing gates
Volkl Karma for off-piste (should try them to see what all the fuss is about)
Volkl Gotama (also like to try these, they sound like a big boys version of the Karma)
Metron B5 (calm down SZK!) if I'm restricted to a one-ski quiver.

It's pretty simple, really:
Vote for however many current or available skis you have skied so far and liked this season. SZK tallies the results once a week and puts it in the top spot. You don't worry about 10, he does.
PS To be truly useful, how about top 20.

Ok, my 2 fave skis this last year have been

Dynastar 8000 - not the fibre - in that order.
and, 3....!!
Elan SFX for hardpack days
oh, and a 4th, Stockli Laser SC
5th.....keep remembering ... is a Rossi 9S

Latchigo, What's up? Post your favourite 10 skis, you know the two things you stand on when you go on holiday on the snow. Some of them look good, some of them help you, some of them hinder you. Try some out and tell us what you think by way of a top ten chart. Simple, well for most of us.

1. Seth Pistols (i.e. last season's) - responsive anywhere! (sadly I have to rely on borrowing my mate's ones)
2. Dynastar 8000's best all round off-pister I've been on
3. Stockli Stormrider XL - hard, great for free-riding off-piste
4. Stockli Stormrider AT - My favorite cruiser on a mixed, piste/crud (in the quiver)
5. Volkl Karma good for a snowy piste day - but a bit dull in deep
6. 9X - all time great on the piste (quiver)
7. Old B3's - powder cruisers (quiver) - like slippers
8. Seth Vicious - not as responsive as the pistols (but might add to the quiver)
Tried and discarded:
9. Zag (the white ones) - dull as dulcie the dullard
10. The modern 9S - it only wants to turn - 5 or 6 years ago it was awesome
Would appreciate anyone's top 10 including a great mogul ski - my AT's aren't bad but they're not quite quick enuf edge to edge

My significant other is in the market for a new ski and I am after feedback about the K2 Miss Demeanor which all the mags say is the best women's ski on the planet for an all-rounder.
What have you heard? Any opinions from the other women in this thread?

1) K2 Apache Recon (160) - terrific, and that short meant powder mogul fields & trees are a beaut.
2) Rossi 05/6 B2 (165)

My point exactly !
Maybe not 'adventurous' but certainly not untypical of many Snowheads I suspect.
It is alright for testers - or people in shops with access to the gear - but most Snowheads probably are not trying out twenty pairs of skis every season.
We'll be like Epic Ski soon, having discussions on the number of skis you have in your quiver. Having tried taking more than one pair on a flight, I am now coming around to the idea that even carrying one set is a pain. My sensible quiver would be the nearest hire shop. A quiver only makes sense if you live in the mountains.
Anyway, nosey git that I am, I would still like SZK to tell me his shop's standard rental ski and also what other skis he could offer me were I to pitch up in Chamonix one day.

Latchigo, If you don't buy records, do you care what's in the top ten? Our rental kit is the same as most other shops, however we have an extensive test centre for those wanting to try and comment on what's hot and what's not. Helps me and other snowheads compile a comprehensive range that pleases you the SNOWHEAD.
