Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Dry Slopes - which surface is best?

And I thought there was only Dendix!

Over at SCUNK (Ski Club of UNited Kingdom) there is an article on the Kendal Ski Club who are extending their snowflex slope. I’d never heard of snowflex. Sheffield and Halifax use the same stuff.
(It is well worth a look a the Gallery on the snowflex site for some great pics )

A bit of Googling showed there are 2 other new types of dry slope: Permasnow and Powderpac

Permasnow (Bracknell, Llandudno, Chatham, Plymouth, Swadlincote ) gets some good reports.
Powderpac (Knockhatch) is condemned.

There was some brief mention of these different slopes earlier this month in Dry Slopes (knockhatch in particular) , but there was no discussion of how the different slopes compaired.

I’ve only skied Dendix. Anyone had any experience of these other surfaces?

The best I ever had was some years back at Sandown Park after a very modest snow fall - almost like the real thing, but that doesn't really answer your question. I seem to remember that I made a fool of myself by ringing them to see if they were open as it was snowing!!

Jonpim, I'll let you know as plan to go to Knockhatch next Saturday morning, so i'll post a review when i get back.

If you go to http://www.goneboarding.co.uk/Review/Default.aspx there are reviews of most of the dry slopes etc. Ok it's snowboarding biased but the reviews are very open and honest.

Never tried permasnow (as far as I know) but between Snowflex and Dendix (in my opinion):

Snowflex is the best for learning on (it's soft to fall on) and for snowboarding. Dendix is better for skiing on.
