Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Lecht 11/3/06

Well, better late than never, March has seen the Scottish centres all get their fair share of the white stuff. I headed up to the Lecht on Saturday with #1 son. All the runs were complete and fully covered. A rock solid base, mostly covered in nice fresh soft stuff. Unpisted drifts were feet deep in places and windblown to a solidity that made them ripe for face planting. Saw several fine examples Laughing

It was Baltic freezing, car said -3 at the car park with a strong wind making it bitter. It brightened up a bit as the day went on. A good day, if somewhat bracing !

Piccies:

New day lodge with Buzzard tow behind.

Nursery slopes and Grouse tow.

Snowy Owl chair.

Looking towards Falcon and Harrier.

It was busy but with everything running, queues were virtually non-existent. The new day lodge is really nice, ski hire is well organised. Take a ticket and go for a coffee, watch board in café to see when it's your turn. Restaraunt and bar with nice views.

The journey back down on Sunday was an adventure, one lane of the M90 ploughed, the other up to a foot deep in places with huge drifts. There should be an epic base when they get the roads back open. It looks hopeful for this season to now last right through until the end of april. Hurrah Very Happy

brian, Marvellous Brian. Looks like Ewan had a good time! He'll be an expert before you get out here in July!! The chair (which is new to me) and the new Day Lodge look great - worth a drive up from the South just to see them!!

Have fun! Very Happy Very Happy

gregh, no idea. It is a bit of an east/west split at the moment, the rain level might have got high enough at Nevis to do some damage.

However, further East, Cairngorm are reporting that the Cas gunbarrel is flat Very Happy It's been a Southerly wind which is perfect for drifting snow into the Cairngorm ski area.

Glenshee are reporting that they can open everything once they've dug out the lifts !

Going up to cairngorm on wednesday or thursday. I am not a big fan of glenshee, its lift system is pretty prehistoric. cairngorm has a mini terrain park too.

Pretty impressive considering that on Saturday when I was up the burn was showing from just above the cross over to the M1 poma down. Should also mean that the Ciste gulley will have filled - hope avalanche risk won't prevent it opening. Hopefully the new snow will have covered all the ice that was around on Saturday. With the bullet proof base from the end of last week, combined with the snow over the weekend and the forecst further showers for the rest of the week, should be a good season end, with the possibility of high level touring on the plateau well beyond easter Smile
