Poster: A snowHead

A problem I seem to have with Italy is the mystery surrounding parking regulations. The cost of a lift pass is steep enough without discovering that you've incurred a parking fine whilst in a lift car park area too. Proper car parks with barriers aren't a problem, it's pay and display or possibly just 'display' where you need a cardboard indicator that sits inside the windscreen showing the time you parked. The cars I've recently hired in Italy didn't have them, so where do you get them from? Failing to display one of these seems to have cost me 85 euros. Ouch!

Hire car or your own UK registered vehicle? If the later I wouldn't think you'll get a ticket in the post.

The last few cars we've had in Italy (and Switzerland too, in fact) have all had one of them already, either on the windscreen or in the glove box / seat pocket. Perhaps you've been unlucky (well, definitely unlucky to get the fine anyway!).

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

After a bit of hunting around I bought one in Switzerland in a minimarket, other places would be fuel stations.

You'll need to Register first of course.

Many thanks for the suggestions. Rather than try to track one down abroad I've found that you can find them on Amazon if you search for parking disc. Must add them to my packing list.

@dw832, we found ourselves quite a bit parking in places in Italy in March where we needed to display arrival time. After a bit of grovelling in the glove box we found one that we had acquired last year in Les Gets when they introduced similar parking schemes. I think it is a great idea and wish we could have the same here in Chichester.
