Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Argentina/Chile Tour 2019 - looking for tips & buddies

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi everyone,

The other week I found out my OH is giving me a free pass to treat myself to a big summer trip. I'm looking for a 2 week adventure in Chile/Argentina in Jul-August.

Having been to Bariloche I am keen to ride Las Lenas and splitboard Chilean volcanoes, any other resorts or cat skiing are a bonus.

I've been looking at the 'organised fun' packages such as these for inspiration:

https://powderquest.com/trips/frontier/
http://www.9vallees.com/en/powder-skiing-argentina-chile-pxl-44.html <--- my favourite but they have not responded to my email
http://www.sndtours.com/example_chile_snowboard_ski_tours/page15/
www.casatours.com

With the high price tags I am considering doing it DIY, i.e. make my way to the various locations and hire local guides using www.explore-share.com
https://www.explore-share.com/?s=Argentina
https://www.explore-share.com/?s=Chile

Has anyone done this or similar? How did you get on? Any tips?

One thing with the big DIY trips is they can get quite lonely, would anyone else be interested in joining me?

My riding ability is expert, somewhere between BASI level 2 and 3.

I've done Las Lenas out of Santiago.

Bus to Mendoza. Spent the night.

Then bus to Las Lenas.

When it's on it's magic. Otherwise average mountain with limited alternatives.

More scope going south from Santiago to Chillan, Antillanca, Pucon, Cerro Bayo, Chapelco
