Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Vaulany/oz/ADH slopes to avoid

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi out there. A question for those with good knowledge if ADH domaine .. ..which slopes would u go for early in day and later in afternoon for blue/red family of improving intermediates...are there any to avoid... We plan to start each morn from oz 1350 as we are staying in allemont. It's mid term so it could be a case that everywhere will be rammed and cut up unless we are up with the birds?

Avoid the home runs in ADH itself as they get pretty rammed. ADH can get a bit icy so I'd avoid shaded, west facing slopes in the morning such as those back to Oz. I'd generally try and ski above the 1ere troncon or maybe over Vaujany way but really at half term it is going to be busy. You could try Villard Reculas in the pm - or Villard WreckYerAss as my son calls it due to the Petit Prince lift.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@Harvamnia, I've skied out of Oz numerous times, though never at half term.

Chalet down from Alpette is always a nice start to the day but I've tended to find the Montfrais pistes are hard and icy early doors so perhaps return up the Clos Giraud chair rather than carrying on. If temps are up then the Montfrais is a great little intermediate zone.

I suspect the queues for the Alpette Rousses cable car will be heavy but it does serve some lovely pistes and Rousses is always a really nice ski if you want to return to Alpette to cable back up or you are skiing down to Oz via the Alpette piste.

Another good intermediate area is off the top of Signal and these would normally be pleasant, even first thing.

The pistes down from Marmottes 2 are challenging but very satisfying. Probably best late morning or afternoon. Lower down directly above the town the slopes are shallow and a bit dull.

Auris is a fairly tame but pleasant area. By the time you get over there from Oz the pistes will all have softened unless the weather means everywhere stays icy all day.

The Sarenne is doable for a red piste skier if conditions are good. The Tunnel may be a step too far but I coaxed an intermediate down there late morning when the moguls had softened without incident.

Yes, do the Sarenne but from the top of marmotte 3 which avoids the very top and the only real black bits. My wife will do that no problem but really hates the blue called couloir from i think dmc2, it can be busy and lumpy.
There are also some nice often quiet and forgotten runs down to Maron.
