I have brakes on my skis but its quite icy and a friend I was out with also with brakes lost a ski which went 300m down the mountain over rocks and we felt lucky to find it.
I‘m thinking I might with current conditions add leashes to my skis. However I can’t see an obvious place to attach a cord to the toe piece. Any suggestions.

My friend has these and he's fitted a flat sling through the black lever

@KenX, thanks did he drill a hole? I thought about that but might tension inadvertently lock the toe.

@jbob, I'm having a senior moment, but I'm 99% sure I put mine through the toe piece on both pairs of skis.

Mine are Radical ST2s and they have a hole in the metal at the rear of the lever which I have put a small loop of cord through (clipping leashes and also for clipping if I'm ever in a crevace and need to take off!). Is there no hole?
Can you give us another photo looking straight down on the binding? Maybe just not there on the ST(1)...?
I'd be wary of drilling through the plastic lever...
Worth having a scout around on wildsnow.com - he is a guru in all things Dynafit!
From a quick look this looks like an older ST binding and suggests a metal loop around the side 'tower'?

@jbob, No hole drilled, from memory the sling was kind of flat bootlace style fitted through a slot in the lever and didn't affect the release.....

All the guides I've ever skied with don't use leashes...................
Mind you, they don't wear helmets either

@MaxiMac, I’d spotted those wildsnow photos but with the radical locator post it’s not possible to get anything on there.
There is a hole in the metal after the plastic finishes but there are some moving parts down there, I will investigate that further.
KenX I’ve also never bothered with leashes (or a helmet) touring for a very long time, but was a little shocked to see a ski disappear quite so quickly, luckily we weren’t yet on a glacier. The prospect of losing a ski and the consequences hadn’t really been on my radar. I did once see a girl catch the falling ski of her friend and suffer a very bad gash to her hand which I subsequently bandaged up for her.

@davidof, many thanks, on my binding theres a lot going on in that hole with a moving bar and spring. I’ll try it though.

Feed the loop through that hole you see from the bottom then push the leash through the loop, it will work fine.
You may want to remove the leash if you are crossing a slope that is at risk of avalanche.

Pic of my wife's Radical Turn toe, 2mm cord threaded through Davidof's hole.........

Doesn't catch on anything and 2mm accessory cord is way stronger than you'd imagine, I tried to break it and failed!

You know it makes sense.

@KenX, that looks spot on, thanks again. I guess you would want it to break at some point. I guess the proof of the pudding will be what happens in a tumble!
Tried googling the answer again last night and this thread popped up.

@jbob, drill a 3mm hole in the release

@Markymark29, if they were mine I might be tempted, as close to the tip as possible to minimise leverage, but they're not, so the non-invasive method I show is perfect

I’d be tempted to drill but would do it back from the tip as thats where i stick my pole to release them. In any case I’ve not got my drill with me.

If you want a neat solution with no drilling you can drift the lever pivot pin further in, slip the leash behind it and tap it back in place. It’s stays right out the way of the mechanism, works on most Dynafits I’ve seen.

My Speed turns have the little wire loop for the leash attached just like that, but it would have been done as the binding was assembled, I'd be just a little bit worried to disturb the factory fit when a loop of cord does the job, albeit, not quite as pretty

Yes just like the speed turns. It’s just tapping the pin one way then back again, no big deal but I understand not wanting too.
