Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Opening day. Plan Gabba, Yula and Arp open. Piste was nice and grippy, the furthest piste was only open on the upper section then you had to use the cut through.
There is a new, horrible piste from the top of Arp to Yula, with big fence with a few gaps. Now the old lifts are going to be more over stretched than ever!
Powder off the top and round the back of Yula was very nice, need to know where you are going to avoid getting stuck or a very (10km+) long walk.
Even on the lower half of Gabba you were hitting trees and rocks if you are not careful off piste.
Quite a lot of people but not too busy.

@Idris, a piste off the Arp. I’ll be very interested to see where that goes!
As you say might lead to longer queues. The top section rarely has a queue compared to the bottom.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Maybe somebody is thinking "expansion" in the near future Wink
Think about it, appropriate uphill capacity to the top of Arp ?

Just had a mouch around. Arp and Youla lifts are to be replaced by 2021. There are two pistes now from Arp a red and a black. Havent found where they go!

The red links the two. (Fenced traverse track)

The black starts half way along and goes straight down.

(Just the area you could traverse to skiers right of Yula)

Fresh dust everywhere yesterday, blown there by the forceful wind roaring over Col de la Seigne. Skied off Yula again, Ankle to Knee deep, no tracks around!.
Arp was closed due to wind. The frontside upper Chair was open and pistes that far down officially, but they were not bothered about everyone skiing down to mid station.
A lot more people around, but a lot more skiing.

@Idris, thanks for the report I'm starting to get excited.
I’m still puzzled as to where the arp piste runs, I know the top very well and can’t think how they might have found a route down that wasn’t too steep without a bulldozer.

It is across the face, and yes Bulldozer and Explosives used. Ruins the face as far as Freeride comps go, looks ugly too.
Guessing the new lift will go from Telecabine top to Arp and need this abomination for people to ski down. Would make Yula a great place for a restaurant.

@Idris, thanks again, ARP is one of my favourite places I’ve had great fun from there, I’ll try and not think the worst until I’ve seen it.
