Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Granger's G-Wash and related waterproofing products?

Anyone with experience of these? Particularly interested in the G-wash and the DWR treatment as compared to, say, Nikwax.

comprex, it is very similar to nik wax in performance, and if i remeber rightly Grangers paid Gore a fortune to put the recomended for use with gore tex logo on the bottle, something that nik wax have always refused to do, i am not 100% certain but i believe the price is around £20,000 per product and the licence has to be updated every so often.

so all in all, it is ok but you are probably paying a little bit to WL Gore for the privilage....nik wax is easier to find anyway, but make sure you tumble dry the garment to ger the best effect......alternatively Storm proofing have just produced a product which does not require heat to activate it.....remind me in a couple of weeks and i will tell you how it performed

I phoned Nikwax before using anything and they convinced me that other brands contained ingredients that might be carcinogenic, so I used Nikwax on my salopttes.

Must use their detergent product to wash them and then spray the proofer on whilst the garment is wet - I did this outside on a tarpaulin cos I was very liberal with it and it goes all over the place - seemed to work ok, I got a tiny bit moist on the bum one day but probably due to sinking in the off piste. BTW Nikwax's website is vey useful.

mike.healy, CEM, that WLGore licence may be paying off in the end: 3 box store chains now stock it over Nikwax.

Think the stuff we have is Toko - but with a washing agent and a spray on it sounds practically identical to Nikwax

I've used Nikwax for a huge number of years. They have very good products coupled with a proven history of development in the mountaineering world.

Used both in past with OK results - Nikwax is more environmentally friendly so use that now.
