Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Rented Skis

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi,

Off to Val Disere on March 18th, was going to buy some skis but the financial controller did not approve budget, something to do with a wedding budget taking precedent etc etc. I am a decent intermediate who will spend most time on piste, with hopefully the odd trek off piste towards end of week. Can anybody recommend skis from say the like of Intersport.

many thanks

LeonardIV, Welcome to Snowheads!

I just typed a whole section on renting skis when I realised that was what you were asking about. IMHO Intersport are OK but I would suggest Precision and maybe better Jean Sports. Better range, better condition (I believe) etc.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

LeonardIV, welcome to snowHeads.

Sorry but I don't know what Intersport have to offer. For piste use I'd recommend trying Fischer RX8's & Volkl 5*'s - both great fun carvers but not too much that you can't ski them all day. If you can get on a pair of Atomic Metron M11's then even better as they'll also be great on piste but are wider underfoot for your off-piste forays.

BTW, if the financial controller is like this before you're married then you've still got time to change your mind Laughing

Put it to her a financial propisition - ski hire is going to be nearly £100 and I can get some good skis from ski bilerk for £200-£250 and it will only take a couple of trips to get the money back (ok waxing transporting, the next shiny pair you see). More importantly does the FC like skiing?

Recommend Precision for range and service.

thanks guys, will look up the skis and shop you recommend. As we are based in Dublin there are very limited options regarding buying skis and anything from the UK involves the exchange rate and pushes prices up.

Spyderdon & dan100, the FC does not ski yet (teacher, gets hols at worst possible time) and is still trying to come to terms with the financial proposition I presented when I traded in my 1997 Golf and came home with 2001 Merc. Once again, thanks for the info.

LeonardIV, It's german, it's cheap, it's straight-up, do it. I did. All in, including p&p and intl bank transfer, much cheaper than uk purchase. And rapid delivery.
