Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

There are no certainties!

Easter is very tempting this year, Easter Monday 1st April is early, still enables me to tap into next year's holiday allowance and should be loads of snow left after this (and next!) week. I just hope there isn't a heat wave with that narrow window between morning ice and afternoon porridge. I'm thinking of Chamonix/Argentiere

We went to Plagne 1800 on the 10th April in the year of the ash cloud.

Higher up fine. Lower down (the central villages) it was getting a bit slushy in the afternoon - still OKish to ski though)

We had a great time TBH - it was very sunny and warm and still OK. The short run down to 1800 was a complete slush field each day!!

(it was the first time I'd booked a package in years - the TO got us home by coach in 26 hours!! - I now appreciate package holidays)

We went in 2013 at Easter and stayed in 1800. On sunny days the short run down to 1800 was definitely rather slushy, but otherwise it was fine most places. As you might expect, slopes that got a lot of sun that day were heavier going in the afternoon, but the vast majority of the skiing we did was fine so long as we stayed above 1800 in the afternoons.
