Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

It is rather nice that it seems a widespread situation so there is no Italy v France, or France v Austria etc, we can all be out enjoying it. Well those of us lucky enough to be here!@Hells Bells,

@Pamski, I'll be there soon Happy . Hubby is reminding his sister on a daily basis that the snow is marvellous, and that we'd be leaving on Thursday if it wasn't for her asking him to have his Mum at ours for Christmas.

I think snow levels in Les C are as deep as they got at any time last season. Pretty amazing when the typical peak is March I think.
The web cams seem to show that the snow is light and fluffy even in the village at 1100m.
All that is great but I also think that there will be a good consolidated base on piste - regular snow falls and a little but not too much warming should have allowed the pisteurs to create an excellent base.

Happy days
Can't wait to get out on Boxing Day.

We are Driving over Thursday, arriving Friday, staying through to the 5th... amazingly in all that time I estimate we will only be skiing 5 of the days!!!! Wife doesn't ski, its also her birthday one of the days, friend coming over for NY & none of them ski...
Never mind gives me an excuses for more weekend trips.

Arggh. Was thinking about heading out to Les C for Xmas or NY. Have to make do with Hochzillertal instead.

Foolishly optimistic I know, but I'm really really hoping that this will be a good season and will still be plenty of snow at Easter.

Last few years have been poor, whenever I've been able to go, with last really good season being Feb 2013. Unfortunately other commitments mean Easter 18 is the only option this season

Similar here - I've got Easter 18 booked already, so am hoping the strong start to the season gives a solid enough base to see us through to Easter (assuming regular top ups, and barring any unseasonal heatwaves!).

I've fractured my hand, which will keep me out of action till mid-Feb but am eyeing up maybe a long weekend early March maybe..

Bemoaning the fact we couldnt seem to find well priced flights to Geneva when we were booking or get the place in Les C we last stayed for the Xmas period otherwise would be there with you like a shot. But this Austria place sounds like it could be an ok place to ski according to a few on here, so have to make do with that.

Have a great time!!!

Shameless pimp for the Pyrenees thread as well: .... Yes, even in Spain this December looks like a typical February (without mentioning that the Pyrenees have been the envy of many places in the Alps the last couple of seasons wink Toofy Grin)

It's not "foolishly optimistic" to hope, @Boris. It would be FO to decide that epic snowfalls in mid December have that much to say about the rest of the season.

@pam w, although often a good early season base does help later on

My niece and family. They have a camper. Decided where to go Sunday, left on Monday. They found a hotel with a basement that catered for campers. Has showers, bootroom and a common room and kitchen. So the van is just a bedroom. £350 for the week including hook up. Way to go - more comfortable than coping in a public parking area with no facilities somewhere in Italy last year!

I have chosen this year to go to Colorado.

Which has the worst snow levels in a decade or two.

If it was just me I'd eat the sunk cost and stay in Europe. But much harder to do given that kolkie and horizon jr are psychologically committed to a USA trip...

Enjoy the European snow, everyone!

Loading up the wagon for departure at about 5.30am on 27th December...staying for as much as January as I can, with a couple of hops home for work commitments. For once (famous last words) we have booked the right location with the right conditions. Can't wait..

Can confirm that in Les Carroz it is the best start to a season for many a year. Snow is lovely and squeeky and there is hardly anyone here at the moment. Meant to get v busy at the weekend though.
