Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Olympics authorities order spectators off race slopes

The organisers of the Turin Winter Olympics, which commence tomorrow, are reportedly restricting spectators to the finish area of the Kandahar Banchetta downhill course, and one mid-point on the slope.

Race officials have not given a specific reason for this, refering to "logistical and operational reasons".

US downhiller Daron Rahlves is unhappy with the decision: "I'm a little bummed out that they are keeping people off the hill ... I like to feed off the energy".

This report, and more quotes, from Reuters: NBC Olympics

Any comments on this move?

 Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

I'm sure many other skiers will feel the same, not to mention the spectators

spectators are secondary in all major sporting events these days..
you have to fit all the t.v stuff in (which is fair enough) but then its all the fat cat sponsors and corporate junkets that take up all the room.. they dont want any of the great unwashed public getting a view for a pittance when they can sell the space to some huge firm ..
plus those spectators get all excited and make noise, very irritating when you are tying up a car fleet deal over some krug

Yes, funny one!

I'm wondering, though, if the worry is security-based ... of if they are concerned about the safety to spectators from flying skis and bodies.

You'll need to Register first of course.

Actually I've worked out why they're doing it, there's so little accomodation arround for spectators that they want to crowd them all into pre defined areas to make the crowds look bigger wink , back to those sponsorship issues again I think Laughing

Maybe Barilla are worried about lunchtime drinking and so want to maintain a safe distance.
