Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Recommend a Val Thorens Ski School

Which ski school in VT would be best for a week of Reds/ Moguls/ Beginners off piste ski lessons. I appreciate that within a school instructors can vary sometimes a lot but any recent experiences would be much appreciated.

@spacetrucker, are you looking for group lessons or private? If the latter, the guide I've used in the Espace Killy for the past three years has decamped to Val Thorens this year. He introduced my family to off-piste and I would totally recommend him for that. He's definitely helped my piste skiing, too, although I can't vouch for his bump lessons as we were all pretty confident on lumpy terrain before we first met him.

He's a freelancer in a loose association of high alpine guides, so you don't get all the ski school bureaucracy. In particular, he'll ski from 9.00 to 17.00 if your legs are up for it.

As a solo skier I like the group lessons, helps keep costs down, learn from watching others and usually meet some great people to ski with after class. Many Thanks.

We used Prosneige in VT, last time was 2 years ago. Son was in the "teens" group which effectively meant reds / mogules / off piste as you describe, though clearly there was something of an age group limit. Nice relaxed outfit, good location to get to, I'd use them again (that was our second year of using them too). Not used them for adults though.
