Poster: A snowHead

We have been pricing up a march trip to Sweden from Edinburgh, and we usually do before we fly, we want to travel to the airport the day before and stay in a hotel. At Manchester we last stayed at the Radisson for £90. Trouble is, all we are finding is a holiday inn express and a premiere inn, both of which would be great, but they are both asking about £132 for a night. Anyone have any advice, or can anyone explain why they are so expensive?

Are you wanting parking included? Try using Quidco to have a look, we saved quite a bit at Stansted. HOtels.com have a Doubletree Hilton listed.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

We've been looking for hotel/parking deals for the March and April trips and are finding that prices are way up on last season. Almost double what we paid last year.

Try the Travelodge on the Edinburgh bypass at Dreghorn. 10 mins to the airport.
Pre-book short stay multistory or valet parking at the airport and you get fast track through security. If you are hand baggage only you've got a walkway direct from the multistory to the front of security.

Ibis Edinburgh Airport, just a few minutes away by tram, and a fraction of the price. Simple, clean rooms.

Thanks all, we knew there must be more solutions, but google was letting us down.
We sometimes do stay and park deals, sometimes just park at long stay, but we always park and take our keys after once having 472 miles added while "parked" with a now defunct firm at Manchester.

watch out for off site hotels, they may seem cheaper but once you add in £7 each way per person for the tram, the costs add up

We stay at the Premier Inn Newbridge. It's usually £45 if booked early enough. They sort a taxi in the morning for £10 fixed price. Only takes 5 mins. Takes you straight to departures. If we have a car we park at the terminal. Again very reasonable.

@Jonny996, @Gufo, Thanks guys. If we do this trip we will want the car at the airport. We would be back about 10pm so with a quick offload etc we would be home by midnight-ish.

The Hilton may come across as cheapest room option. But that gets blown out the water on the first visit to the bar.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I recommend the Marriot next to the Gyle, we always use it. It's a nice hotel, service is always great, and it is 5 mins to the airport.

I was going to recommend this but didn't know if it had a transfer. It is better to use the park and ride to a hotel than pay parking.

You know it makes sense.

If we have a flight later in the day we park at the Halbeath park and ride then get the 747 bus to the airport, this suits us as we are coming from the North, appreciate the information being given for hotels as have always found Edinburgh airport hotels expensive.

I just stayed in the HI express for £85. This included bed, breakfast and a weeks parking. Not expensive IMO.
