Hi All
I am recently having some issues with my boots. They are a year or 2 old and am now getting some issues.
I suspect they are too big and now they have bedded and stretched, the issues are arising.
So I am thinking about biting the bullet and going to S4F for a new pair.
I am happy with the price of the boots I see on his page and can live with that. My question is, how much more does the fitting and everything else he does cost?
A few more £ and I am happy-hundreds and hundreds more will mean I might have to delay until the summer (and with 4 more weeks skiing to do this year, I would like them sooner rather than later!)
PS I realise everyone if different, but some sort of bench mark/guess would be great.

Prices are set out on this page. I bought a pair of boots form there a couple of weeks ago. If in doubt, give Colin a ring.

I assume fitting is included if you're buying from there. The extras would be footbeds, if needed. Not sure on price, seem to remember someone suggesting about £60 for custom but no doubt someone else can confirm. Well worth it though from what I understand, makes all the difference if your foot is supported in the right way.

I've no direct experience of S4F, but most fitters include the fitting cost (including alterations to the boot, both at the time of purchase and subsequently) in the price of the boots. Moulded insoles would be extra.

@Tom Doc, Pro Feet charge a separate fee, IIRC. I bought a pair of boots from S4F a couple of weeks ago and was hapy with the price. I assumed that the price included a fitting charge as shown in my earlier link. Whatever, I was very pleased with the service, and content with the overall price paid.

@achilles, For some reason no replies where visible when I posted mine. Your link sets things out fairly clearly - I'm happy to defer to your superior knowledge!

I have used S4F and they (Colin) are brilliant could recommend them highly enough I have 'crap' feet and skied in pain for years despite having boots 'custom fitted' abroad which were good and better than rentals but no where near the service and comfort I now have.

@Philip1972, Colin fitted me out two years ago. Only one mild adjustment needed in resort to blow out a little on the outside of each (very wide feet, apparently), otherwise they're the best boots I've had in 25 years.
Edit - first appt was in Feb and he refused to sell me anything because he wasn't prepared to sell me something that wasn't appropriate. I went back following October when new stock came in and he had all my notes and my boots ready & waiting. Hands down best service I've ever had.

I ended up with two sessions with Colin, I've wide feet, big calves, screws in ankles etc. - blown out boots, wedges under the heel, custom footbeds, floating on one side extra space made in calf area. Like I say I don't believe you can go wrong with him and no I don't a commission (not needed to go back!).

Agree with Padster - expect a week of pain, smaller boots, and maybe a tweak but you will end up with great boots!

I've just been and seen Colin, I don't believe he's much more if anymore expensive than somewhere else, however what you get is a skilled man who needs to make a living and you get your boots fitted properly. It's worth the drive if you're not local
