Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Dad + 4yr old - Short Break

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have been asked by one of my friends for advice on taking a short break with their 4 year old child.

They are keen to introduce their child to skiing and only have time to get away for a few days in February. They want to get their child some skiing lessons and grab a couple of lessons themselves at the same time.

I am not aware of any family orientated firms that specialise is short breaks. My initial thoughts were, they will need to have lessons at the same time and arrange to be back before the child lesson ends. Flights to Geneva are cheap and plentiful so I was going to suggest Les Gets or Morzine.

Anyone got any suggestions or done this themselves?

@Mike-H, Ski famille will do 4 day deals if you call them, catered with child care and I have used 3 of the chalets in Les Gets myself , and happy to recommend. Takes the stress off if you know someone is there to pick kids up if you get stuck/ misjudge return ski times.

Thank you Blah! I'll pass that on. I did not realise they do short breaks.

Try to avoid French school holidays, 4 February to 4 March. Crowded pistes and lift queues and lessons harder to come by. I tried to book some private lessons for kids in February - that was Christmas week and there was nothing available even then.

Yes , and UK half term may limit Ski famille willingness to do a 4 day, if they can sell a week.

Fly to Turin. Hire a car to La Norma. Small easy beginner resort where everything will be cheap and 4 day stays easily available

Just did a Friday night to Sunday night trip to Les Contamines. Would need to DIY but pretty easy drive from Geneva of 1hr 15 mins. Booked 2 hr private lesson with ESI for our 6 yr old (she couldnt do more than that in one go). When there is mor snow there r a couple of isolated kids lifts in the valley as well to muck around on. Nice area, big enought but not ridiculously so.
