Looks to me like a Schirmbar thats beside a lift building with the photo taken from the relative shelter of said building as the immediate foreground looks like matting with a thin coat of snow.
Unless someone recognises it specifically we're going to have to name every resort in the world?

@albob, Bingo. Probably made it too easy with this one. First photo is the entry point to B26 run. Short and steep and usually avoided by most people.

What is the structure in the second photo? It looks almost like the frame for a big top tent.

@thelem, I think it appeared around the same time as they completed the new Indren lift so I'd guess at communications link of some sort as the power comes up for the Alagna side.

That is a temporary (normaly freight) lift pylon. They used them wile building the Skyway in Courmayeur

The images looked like a seriously mountainous area, I took the clue "someone is very near" and settled on Alagna (guessed by Idris), then checked the piste map for the area (Monte Rosa)
