Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

How late to book a transfer

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi all

My wife and I have flights booked to Geneva for 11th jan, coming back 14th. We're trying to leave it as late as possible before booking accommodation so we can try and follow the snow (or lack off!).

Anyways - quick question - how late typically can you leave it before booking transfers? My assumption as we're not going at a particularly peak time is we could look to book 24-48hours before and have no issues?

Resort wise, we'd probably be looking at Flaine, Morzine, Verbier, Courmayeur or Les Arcs.

Cheers

I've been surprised by how booked up transfers get on non-peak Saturdays in March before and we've ended up going round 10+ places to find one even with 6 weeks notice.

With that experience I'd suggest finding a company or two and checking availability at this point and seeing how flexible they can be.

For a short break where I haven't picked the resort yet I'd be temped to use a hire car -- less hassle booking, and the main potential hassle is if it dumps before you arrive or while you're there, which would be good for other reasons.
