Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Airport strike - going to Tignes on Decemeber 23rd - what to do?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi we are due to go to Tignes on a Swiss flight at 7am on December 23rd and of course this is when check in staff and baggage handles go on strike! Mad
We are 3 families with 6 kids between us ( with 2 more families joining us in Geneva)
Any advice from wise people here what to do?
Seems like there is a real chance of either not being able to fly or after a huge delay arriving there without our suitcases!

My husband is saying - shall we drive instead? We have never driven so far/ have no snow chains and wIth kids and all is it too crazy?
Or should we just go to the airport and hope for the best? Puzzled
Thank you!

(Oh, it's off - good news).

But anyway, otherwise, it's actually possible to get ski boots plus enough clothes to ski into hand baggage. That's what I'd do. Then, if your skis / boards don't make it out there, just hire them. The issue I wasn't clear about is who's responsible if they fail let you check in your gear - I'm fairly sure it's the airline, although the last time my stuff was stuck in LHR they'd accepted it, which is different.

I believe EU rules don't apply to strike action, which is interesting.

But my answer would have been: pack what you need in hand baggage, travel light, and hope for the best. It almost always works out.
