I know that this has probably been done to death, but any suggestions?
Off piste cover needed to cover our pootling about at the sides of the piste (which may happen, intentionally or unintentionally).
Cheers

I looked at this a while back and bought Ski Club of Great Britain's policy for this year. It covers off piste without a guide.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I use insureandgo with the caveat that I go off-piste with a guide

I have used snowcard in the past. I would use them again after their excellent customer service when I had to make a claim when my daughter broke her leg

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I used BMC when I wanted off-piste without a guide. IIRC snowcard did not, then at least, offer such cover. Snowcard were, however, good at handling an emergency I had, too.

I too use Insure and Go, and have found them the best price and coverage. Once you pay the Winter Sport upgrade, you are covered for off-piste (without a guide).

Join the Austrian Alpine Club and get their insurance. It covers you for off piste skiing without a guide.

And that it's only valid if you're wearing a helmet.
It wouldn't strictly cover the off piste the OP described.

Insure & Go do not mention the need for a guide off piste on their website (unless it's tucked away in the Ts and Cs) - they do mention that you are not covered in areas considered unsafe by the resort or something like that
