Poster: A snowHead
|
Hiya
I'm a relatively new skier and quite a nervous one. I've had some lessons for beginners and I currently ski on blue runs. I'd love to improve to intermediate and feel more in control with turns etc and just generally more confident.
I'm going to be skiing in Les Menuires in Jan and would really appreciate any recommendations for ski instructors.
Thanks
Karen

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

I really like Sylvain Neyrat at ESF les Menuires - he's a younger guy, speaks excellent English, and sometimes works for one of the English schools there (I forget which, but I would go through ESF anyway).
He took my daughter and her friends for 5 mornings, I did a couple of sessions with him before my L2, and recommended him to friends who also liked him.
Depends what you want - he's relatively relaxed, but really will want you to improve, and is quite technical - which I like.
PM me if you want contact info.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@karen_globalhelpswap, Why not Claude Ski Pros, private ski instructor in La Tania, Courchevel, Meribel, Meribel-Mottaret, Saint-Martin de Belleville, Les Menuires and Val Thorens?

Why not indeed? Claude - who speaks excellent English - has taught many, many snowHeads.

My 2014 review is here: http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?p=2472480
SkiSchool: We used Prosneige, better than average but not across the board awesome. Group lesson was fun and well received by our 3-weeker, our set of three privates for two people were fun and covered the right things but not quite as life changing as our 5 weekers had hoped, the pair of private lessons another two (more experienced folks) had with Italian import 'Teo' were good though, and I'd recommend asking for him. I really enjoyed his approach. The second lesson I nearly dropped out before we started as I was struggling in heavy snow and low light conditions and bone tired, but by the end of the session I was renergised and even went for an extra fun run at the end Very quick to find the problems, very responsive to feedback (i.e dealing with my low light confidence/fitness issues), great fun ('now we open the gas a little, yes?' *swoosh* *zoom*), very encouraging and a superb skier you just want to emulate. Only downside is english is his third language and sometimes you are going to be glad english shares latin roots with Italian! Wasn't a problem for us at all, but I know some people find it annoying/difficult.
