Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Val d'Isere or Val Thorens or Cervinia ??

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi guys

... After these conditions and the good snowfall ..I am visiting the Alpes through Geneva Airport on 29th Nov for 3 full days skiing .. But I can't decide which resort I should choose ... Val d'isere or Val Thorens or Cervinia ? I can ski all levels on piste ..

Looking for a place where I can ski for 3 full days without repeating the same pistes so many times

Transportation is not a problem at all .. the ski resort it self is my concern.

Forecast till now says it would be sunny in all of them

I don't know which one I go for ?

Your advice is appreciated

Note: I posted also a similer topic in snow and weather reports section in this forum

Thanks

Val Thorens will have the best snow in my opinion and snow right down into resort.

Val d'Isere doesn't have all that great conditions I think at the moment, particularly low down (it's lower than the other two resorts you mention). Val Thorens looks pretty good on the webcams at the moment, and they say they have 80cm in resort with 150cm up top. Opening up nearly all the domain tomorrow as I understand it, including the link to Orelle. No real idea on what Cervinia's looking like.

I'd go with Val Thorens.

Answer to this is relatively easy. Choose any resort in NW Italy that is open.
They have had an extremely long period of retour d'est which means they had between 1 and 2.5 metres of snow.

Sestriere has got the best snow in the moment due to massive retour d'est. See todays video

Monterosa Ski is also well covered, below Alagna

And how about Bardonecchia

The further west you go, the less snow.

We will be able to ski back to Tignes Le Lac and Val Claret tomorrow, you will need to download into Val D'Isere, but there will be lots of skiing to keep you happy between the two resorts.

@TQA, or is it - given the original question and dates? Meribel and Les Meruires won't be open so the extent of the skiing is far smaller than what will be available in the Espace Killy.

@chocksaway, if the OP is only out for three days there is more than enough in VT (especially if they open the link to Orelle) to keep them occupied! VT on its own is suitably massive!

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@Onnem, As sweet as the snow looks in Italy, at lower altitudes there's been chaos with floods and even road collapse. On top of that, some aren't even open yet!

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Cervinia! Check out the extent of the lift opening on the Zermatt website which covers both the Swiss and Italian sides of the ski area.. (Note we are off to Val T this weekend, but this is because we have friends out there with a house and free accommodation!)http://www.matterhornparadise.ch/en/winter/panoramalive-winter?affiliate=1?ref=http://www.zermatt.ch

Although the resorts are connected much of Zermatt is not really skiable from Cervinia, just too long to get there. Where as Cervinia is more accessible from Zermatt.

The connecting lifts can be closed due to bad weather, a taxi back is EXPENSIVE.
