Apologies if this is a recurring question, quick search came up with an old thread, and looking for some up to date info.
As the title suggests looking for recommendations on the best fitters in the UK. Currently in edinburgh, but traveling will not be an issue, to get the right boots.
On a side note. Going to be out in Les Arcs for the winter. So any recommendations for there would also be welcome.

Only one I can (and would) recommending the UK is Colin at solutions4feet.com. Excellent service, but he is in Bicester (and you'll need to book in advance!!)
Im sure someone north of the boarder may know someone closer to you though

Rivington Alpine near Bolton are particularly good specialist boot fitters, especially for dealing with problem feet

While I know that Colin is going to get a mass of +1's I would also like to vouch for Andy (also Solutions 4 Feet) who is often over looked in favour of Colin. I'm quite sure that Colin would not have taken him on had he thought he was anything less than 1st class (or mouldable!).

Doesn't Alan Baxter do boot fitting somewhere up in the Edinburgh area? Just had a look and he's in Stirling. Might be a bit more convenient for you, especially if you need any tweaks made once you try your boots. I wouldn't advise getting boots fitted anywhere you can't pop back to easily to get them adjusted.

Yeah, I get that its probably wise to go more local, but the tweaks won't be needed untill I've skied them. I'm torn between getting boots in the UK, or out in resort. Language barrier being my biggest concern, also most likely pricier.

If you do get them locally get up to the the Plastic Mountain and try them out. If there is anything wrong with them it will show up after a session there. If Hillend isn't your bag then Braehead would be the alternative.

I went to Surefoot in London. They have stores all over the world. Although they are quite expensive they are built for life and are amazingly comfortable.

How can boots be "built for life"?
You obviously don't ski enough.
Anyway, all Surefoot do that no-one else does is put their logo on them.

about 6 weeks a year. ive had a few pairs of boots from places like snow and rock etc and they are absolutely nothing like them. i was referring to the fact that you can take them in at any point to be fixed etc but the actual liners are far better quality than most and hold their shape much longer than regular liners.

I had Surefoot boots a few years ago and that was when I realized that pain from boots is a real thing and not a myth, I couldn't ski in them for longer than an hour after which I felt I was a danger to myself and those around me. No amount of tweaking could do anything and it wasn't even clear what had to be tweaked. They were supposed to work, all seemed done right, they felt good in a shop if a bit on a heavy side, but I couldn't last even half a day in them. Great service though, but I needed boots, not customer care... So Surefoot service are not comfortable for absolutely everyone, sometimes they are not, just like any other boot. I prefer getting fitted in a resort where I can try them on ASAP and get an idea how they ski. It's easier to get boots tweaked if necessary and service will be free. If you are planning to spend a winter in the Alps you may find this useful.

@oopskis, Colin at www.solutions4feet.com is the man. It's his own company.
Colin, to the chagrin of his wife, takes books on biomechanics to read on holiday — that is how knowledgeable and dedicated his is!
As others have said, you would have to book in advance as he is so in demand. He did a wonderful pair of boots for me, complete with moulded inner linings and custom footbed. They fit like a dream and made my skiing so much better.
He is also very reasonably priced considering what he offers - which includes future adjustments at no charge.
Also, he is known around the world as one of the very best boot-fitters, and so in return, he knows all the best fitters in different resorts. Thus if you were to take his boots to say Meribel, and need an adjustment whilst skiing, he will tell you were to go locally. And once you mention his name — you will get the very best service as they know Colin will be judging them!

Given all the athletes that have got away with systematic doping for so long (& only today we see fresh evidence of Rio anti-doping utter inability to adminster a proper whereabouts system during the games), Alain's case always strikes me as the cruellest of ironies, the most innocent of explanations, acknowledgment that he had no motive plus Benni Raich offering the medal back but strict liability won out.

Yup. I read an article a while back that stated that the proscribed ingredient was an inactive isotope (or words to that effect) of that ingredient. The rumour is that he actually has the medal but I didn't ask him, and never would, if it was true.

Surefoot shells are just the same K2, Lange and Technica you can buy in Slush&Rubble, or anywhere else.
Are their liners better than e.g. SIDAS?

@oopskis, I'm in Dundee. When I was looking to buy boots Colin advised me to book an appointment with Karla at Craigdon in Perth. This was a few years ago now so I don't know if she's still there but I was very happy with the service and am still very happy with the boots she recommended and fitted. Might be worth seeing if she's still around.

+1 for Craigdon at Perth. I bought my touring boots there a couple of weeks ago. Karla did the fitting and she was very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. I'd definitely go back.
