It started snowing here in Le Seignus (southern French Alps) at midday. Only a few flakes and snowforecast have done what I think is their biggest ever volte-face with their forecast for tonight being downgraded from 25cm to 2cm in the last 24hrs!

By the looks of things there is some cloud arriving at Meribel. Bracknell looks a lot more hopeful.

it's been snowing here this morning, a lot more than forecast, a useful covering on pistes which were becoming a bit hard packed. And it's still snowing. Nice fluffy stuff too. So the northern alps not completely missed out.

I suspect that even the Southern French ( and Italian) Alps are going to get a great covering over the next 24 hours as it's snowing at 250m on the Cote d'Azur right now( Thur 1500 GMT) and the system seems to have loads of stuff in it .. Enjoy ( says he sulking with a dislocation)

Helen Beaumont, It does happen ! About 8 years since I've actually seen it stick on the coast for any length of time ( and it isn't sticking on the coast beaches themselves I'm told - although Diarmuid might advise differently). I'm only 2 miles as the crow flies and it's sticking here.
Think it's time you went to SC !

Snowing here in Morzine has been since I got up at about 9 (must have been snowing since about 5 or 6am. Skiied fresh all day it was super. About a foot on the hill, much more in Avoriaz so I'm told by one of my housemates. The quality of the snow is good, it's very light and fluffy, not wet and heavy ..................... yet.

Frosty the Snowman, and barely a cloud in sight here now, even on the bottom slopes of La Ros. Just shows how much weather varies from valley to valley in the mountain...

Stopped about an hour ago (in town), but it must have snowed for 11 to 12 hours. In town snowed about 7 inches, at 1700m about a foot, in Avoriaz more, may still be snowing at the top. When its snowed before, the reports given online after the snowfall always seem to underestimate the actual amount. Like last week when they said 20cm it was more like 40cm (in Avaz) you couldn't move because of the white stuff.
More powder for me tommorow then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
