Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Malpensa to Cervinia transfer?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
We have the first week of April booked for Cervinia.
Last time, we hired a car, but I'd like to take our own skis this year, and so I'm looking at transfers.
Any recommendations?
TIA

I'm a bit of a newbie to this, but I'm not sure I'd get 4 sets into anything that didn't end up costing about £400 for the week.
What about those soft roof racks - anyone tried them?

@OTS, Car hire relatively inexpensive from Milan. We have got four large adults plus 4 sets of skis, boots, bags in various estate car hires including BMW 5 series, VW Passat, and Vauxhall insignia.

Need to go for intermediate estate rather than compact. Hires from Milan will have winter tyres and/ or snow chains.

Not necessarily - I booked a car with winter tyres specifically last Jan in Bergamo and it took quite some shouting to finally get a car with winter tyres ....

I find, shouting and furious, over-the-top gestures alternated with much nose-pulling and back-of-hand slapping to extremely effective generally whilst abroad wink

@Snowsartre, who did you book through, I'm looking for a car in Feb, most offer chains but not tyres, only one I've found is Sixt and its hyper expensive Skullie

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

We're flying into T2 @ MXP and the transfer bus to T1 where 90% of the hire cars are based can add a good 45 minutes to proceedings. I see a couple of the big chains rent from T2, so I'll go with one of them. I am tempted to try one of the soft roof racks though Smile
