Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I wonder if this could work or be adapted for snowsports or even general contractors?

Unless it can handle a sharp rock I would not be interested.

Interesting; but not much use when you bang your head on the ski-lift safety bar as it comes down, or when you are walking along and someone with their skis on their shoulders swings around suddenly to talk to their mates...

For general contractors use I don't think it would respond if for instance you got a scaffolding spanner hit you on the head Happy

Cycling skiing and something like horse riding would appear to be included a similar response realm though, so more possibilities to assess with some brave volunteers perhaps.

It could get a little expensive. I would probably need 3 or 4 a season £250 for the 1st one then £99 for each replacement.
I think i will stick with my giro at £130. It should last 3 or 4 years.

Every time you fall over it explodes into action, and then you need a new one. Not very suitable for skiing I would say.

In the advertising video the airbag doesn't even hit the ground so it was wasted. However the lady's hip appeared to take the bulk of the fall. I wonder if they do one for the bottom? Actually, one for the shoulders will be a very good idea and may have saved me from a sperated shoulder.

@johnE, Interestingly, as the girl says, the airbag holds your neck and head very rigid together, so stops/reduces any twisting or whiplash damage to your neck or spine — something a normal helmet would not do. If you watch the video closely, you can see the part of the airbag around her neck does hit the ground, but her head then does not whip forwards/backwards as the airbag is holding her neck and head tightly.

Also, the airbag provides much better protection then a normal helmet, as there is so much cushioning.

Both of these are a big plus over normal helmets.

Too soft and goes off too easily. Most skiers fall over 1 to 10 times a week.

Explosive devices near the brain, jaw or ear are rarely a good idea.

And it looks like that dude off Mario...
