Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cervinia - cheap family accomodation

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi, think I have narrowed our Italy ski hols to either Cervinia or La Thuile. Family of 4, 2 kids age 10 and 7 - this will be second time for them.

Wanted a resort with easy runs for family afternoon ski time.

I like look of Cervinia but not sure best place to,stay. Budget price line unfortunately !
happy to be outside resort so long as on ski bus route with minimal walking to and from bus stop ! Self catering is usually cheaper option. We will also have hire car but I am not sure how much faff will be involved if driving to resort every day, parking etc! - or is it easy?
Does anyone know of good places or areas to stay? We want to be able to get to Cervinias central slops ski school etc . Or good websites to look ( have looked on owners direct and homeaway)
La Thuile accomodation seems to be much cheaper ? Which is consideration.

Be really pleased to get so some info on the resort, accomodation etc.,

Thanks snowheads, H

Valtournenche has a number of excellent family run family focused hotels. Most have a minibus to take you to the lift.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

When I researched this some time ago I found that most of the self catering accommodation was in Cielo Alto. It is about a 20 minute walk to the heart of Cervinia. It is not possible to ski down to the main lift from some apartments unless you are good enough to go through the trees but there is a skibus.

Some of the apartments on offer have very poor reviews see trip advisor.

These three might be OK though.
