Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Drive to Jungfrau

So we are driving to Grindelwald in February and I'm wondering on the best route to take. I've driven to the French Alps a bunch of times but never to Switzerland. I drove from Basel Airport to Grindelwald in the Spring this year and some of the suggested routes on google suggest basically driving to Basel from Calais and then down. If anyone has personal tried and tested route and knowledge all advice would be welcome.

Have done it a few times. Your basic choice is to cut down towards Basel through the Vosges mountains, which saves a few miles (but hope it doesn't snow), or carry on along the A4 into Germany and head south for Basel on the autobahn.

It's quite a tough drive in one go. Nice places to stay in the villages in the Vosges or around Metz if you stay on the A4.

For my last two trips I have done Calais to Basel through the Vosges. Stayed the night in Chalons-en-Champagne one time and Nancy the other.

@jirac18, you probably know this already but as you say you've never driven to Switzerland just a reminder that in Switzerland if you intend using their motorways you will need a 40CHF vignette for your vehicle.
