For those snowHeads who haven't visited the "Bend Zee Knees" section recently you will have missed the news that Inside Out Skiing (run by myself and skimottaret) has been shortlisted in the year's World Snow Awards, in the Best Snowsport School category. The winner will be decided by public vote, and I'd really appreciate if you could spend the next minute or so casting your vote (hopefully for us ). It's very straight forward, just click on the link to be taken to the voting page:
VOTE HERE
Inside Out Skiing is a small ski school used by quite a large number of snowHeads. We have developed a model of ski training which we think is different from that offered by the other Brit ski schools, valuing training in the UK equally with training in the Alps. As a small ski school it will be tough for us to gather enough votes to win the category, so if you were able to support us we'd be most grateful!

Done - surprisingly small numbers of options for a 'world' award. Still that makes it easier for our friends at Inside Out to win.

A couple of important factual things I don't wholly understand here:
1. This relates to jbob's point above: is "getting on the list" of the World Snow Awards a matter of self-nomination? Rob Rees (who's welcome to comment) mentioned on Facebook this morning "My ski school has been nominated in the Best Ski School category of the World Snow Awards".
Who nominated Inside Out ... or did the ski school nominate itself?
Is this nit-picking or a fair question?
2. Last April, SKI.HUB ran a report about Inside Out ski instructors wearing badges - i.e. professional credentials - of the ISIA (International Ski Instructors Association).
Question: which Inside Out instructors hold BASI (or other) teaching qualifications which have gained them ISIA certification? Please name names!

You know it makes sense.
|
1. Inside Out submitted information to the Awards panel, the panel shortlisted the nominees in each category. The winners of some categories are judged by the Awards panel, in other categories the winner is decided by public vote.
2. As David knows, in one of the resorts we teach in the local police ask us to wear badges which identify us as instructors who are licensed to teach in that region of Italy. We comply with that regulation. If you want to know about the qualifications of the instructors who work for Inside Out Skiing you can find that information on our website.

Hey "Magnum".....
my take on it.
1) You do realise that there are competitions that you can nominate yourself for.... not that I'm suggesting this happened here.
2) as an equipment expert and journalist, I would assume you know how to google "inside out skiing" and go to the about us page to look at the qualifications to satisfy yourself.
