Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Well now that it'll be owned by Vail the meme must apply

 Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person
Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person
So that would be something like: Aspen Skiing Company -> Intrawest -> Fortress Investments -> Vail resorts.

It seems like a logical acquisition for them. I doubt it'll make much difference to Whistler visitors. For locals, ownership drifts and broadly doesn't make a lot of difference. I doubt they're going to make it flat, or stop the rain wink

"Whistler" never was a home-grown mum & dad ski hill.

The most interesting thing is pass pricing. The Vail model is good deals for season pass holders and rape the tourists and casuals. Now Whistler probably already holds that "most expensive" tag in Canada already but the question is how far do Vail push it?

Ops wise I agree the WB machine is very similar to the Vail machines already.

It seems to me that they were already very similar to the Vail pricing model, if not following it they sure did check it every year. As a visitor I do feel as you say when I see the "locals" pricing.

Just hope the much needed investment happens, just seemed that they were moving forward again after years of under investment.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Will be interesting to see how Vail adds WB to the EPIC Pass for the '17/'18 ski season. It might draw some folks farther North, that might not normally consider it. But as they say, "time will tell."

Everything whistlerblackcomb has been doing internally for the last 2-3 years been both "matching industry standards" (aka copying the monopoly model buying up shops and complementary business in the host town).

Oh an the minor matter of benchmarking everything... Against Vail, and Vail resorts standards...

It's going to mainly only bring in some extra us and Australians.

Which might help if the British market drops off in any slump with brexit etc impact on exchange rates.

Interestingly the Mountain Collective Pass just announced that they're adding Revelstoke and Telluride to their pass today.

They've been doing that (adding mountains) every year.

Seems like Vail have too Wink

It's interesting as the Mountain Collective Pass will obv lose Whistler for 17/18 though.

I wonder who'll MCP will add next - needs to be indies with a bit of a reputation as a skier's mountain apparently looking at existing profile. Wonder if RCR will throw in with Fernie and Kicking Horse to get the US road trip market nailed plus an incentive for International visitors to stay away from Whistler & if Revy would veto them.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Both Vail and MCP had been adding mountains into their collection for the past few years. So does other "alliance" as well. The consolidation of the ski industry is continuing. Nothing too shocking really. While individual addition and subtraction may raise an eyebrow or two, the trend has been quite plain to see for a while.
