And meanwhile Morgan Stanley (amongst others) says GBP and UK stocks offer good value overriding sentiment still moving against EUR. No point judging based on just one view point, you have to look at consensus. Golden rule of investing.

Well life is full of compromises - although it can be stressful it's intellectually very stimulating and very rewarding financially . Furthermore as I work for myself I have a decent degree of flexibility of when I work including taking sabbaticals so I'm far from being a desk slave

companies been ripping off over halfterm for years.
Also go look at UK prices for Lapland (Levi Ski Resort) for the 2 weeks before Christmas & then then a fraction of the price from January.
As for the chalet prices. This is (& there is already a thread about it) to do with French Law rather than the £ & paying Chalet staff proper wage & giving them time off. Even this season the larger chalet operators had cut catered element from 6 days to 5, to stay on the correct side of the law.
