Poster: A snowHead
|
Here's an edit of me and a friend skiing and boarding into the crater of Mt Yotei near Niseko. It's a 1898m volcano, and Glen lugged his drone up there to film us. Look out for Niseko Annupuri and the Sea of Japan in the landscape shots.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Love it, my two favourite things: skiing and volcanoes.
Great photography from Glen. Thanks for sharing.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Cheers! I've been looking forward to seeing the shots since we did it, stoked how it came out.

Top work that man. Mt Yotei is spectacular due to its almost perfect cone and isolation. It is difinitely on my todo list.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Awesome video @jimmer, and on the front page of Unofficial Networks too.
My slightly lower tech effort from last April.....
Skiing into the crater on Mt Yotei from Andy Evans https://vimeo.com/126251660
It really is an incredible mountain. So striking and prominent. The views from the top on a clear day are unreal.
I only got up there once in the winter to ski it, but we'd hike it most summers for the sunrise.

Good stuff.
Surprised there is not an active thread on volcano skiing.
Mt Etna in Italy and Ruapehu in NZ are insane.
Sliding down all the world's volcano ski stations would make a good book.

Haha, yeah it was the busiest I have ever seen it, all the rental shops in town were out of snowshoes and AT gear. The snow was pretty meh actually, very wind affected, I skied it the day before and it was much better, but the visibility and wind wasn't so good for the drone.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.
