Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Helmet Camera

Looking to replace my MUVI helmet camera. Don't want to spend a fortune so was considering either the GoPro Hero £99 or the Hero Session £150

Any thoughts, recommendations or alternatives?

Currently using a Muvi NPNG http://www.veho-muvi.com/muvi_product/product-muvi-hd-npng/ but not massively impressed, colours & definition are poor in low light & the sound is muffled.

@cartoony,
http://www.gearbest.com/action-_gear/?qid=1466176587

most of the stuff is made on the same production line as the original

I bought this as an experiment http://www.gearbest.com/action-cameras-sport-dv-accessories/pp_315662.html can't tell the diff. from the branded but I've not tried a destruction test to see if the plastic is as strong . . . but hey it's just £15/$20 inc. shipping

I've got the bog standard hero, no screen, no wifi, no bluetooth, BUT its picture quality is amazing for the price and the battery lasts all day more or less, really happy with it all in all. one of my buddies has the hero session, the little cube one, and its given him nothing but grief. if i were you i'd stay away from that one

The question is not "what" but "why"?

I think you get what you pay for. Sound? You need something separate for sound; at best you're going to get wind noise from a helmet camera.

I have the Contour roam 2 camera and the images are more than good enough, I prefer the bullet shape and side mounting to helmet over the GoPro telly tubby top mount look.

I can not recommend the Contour though as the mounts are either way too expensive or unavailable ( been after some for over 8 months now ).

Similar style though are the Sony action cams and images look great ( they do a 4k model as well ). So these would be worth adding to a short list ( cheapest is around the £100 mark ).

I bought one of the cheap action cams from Aldi last week. Very impressed what it can do for under £30. I like the idea that the mounts for most of these are pretty much interchangeable and very cheap.

Only used it for kayaking so far (which was my main reason for purchase) but will be trying it out at next weekend's ski races.
