The only real use I could think of was on flats, for giving yourself a bit of a push...but its not a situation that has ever required a pole...so far...

I've seen plenty of boarders with snowshoes on their backpack use regular folding poles on flat traverses.
I can imagine a little ridicule/abuse if anyone turned up with one of these strapped to their boots. Could be used as a massively over specified selfie stick

It's so foul.
My favourite bit is that the caption says the video shows how easy it is to get onto a lift - I wonder how many times they tried to make it look that difficult!

I find a quick polish with appropriate wax beforehand has one cruising past skiers mystified that they have to pole, whereas that snowboarder does not.
