Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I have claimed for vehicle repatriation when I was injured. Excellent service. I couldn't see any exclusions that would have concerned me and I always look

@Markab1971, @Markab1971, we were stuffed by RAC last summer. Did nothing except remove the car to a virtually inaccessible dealers, and didn't provide the promised hire car.

@holidayloverxx, we have cover with the warranty on the car, but as above, it proved worse than useless.

I have annual cover with my bank Nationwide) but haven't put it to the test. I would have done a couple of weeks ago when I had a puncture, if I was in a car with no spare wheel. Evil or Very Mad

When a clutch gave up in Aosta some years ago the breakdown policy (with car insurance) wasn't too bad but I had to keep careful records and threaten to go to the Ombudsman before they paid up for further problems caused by mistakes by the first Italian garage (who lied about it) which had to be put right by a local French Fiat dealer.

A breakdown overseas is almost always going to be a big headache, especially if you are just on a short holiday. The AA 5 star service is good but expensive.

^+1 to the ADAC Plus cover. I've used their repatriation service several times due to being unable to drive (clumsy Klotz that I am), always gone without any problems. I also have it for hire cars overseas and they were exceptionally helpful when my hire car was towed from a gated community in San Francisco. The partner fees seem exceptionally good value for money by the way, shame I don't have a partner to share withthough! Laughing

ADAC Plus for us too. What's handy is the medical repatriation cover for those who want a belt and braces approach to Insurance cover.

For a giggle I called them a few weeks ago when my car had a flat battery at home. No trouble, the AA appeared a little later. The only slight downside is getting past the German automated phone system, but pressing 1 seems to do the trick.

The ADAC membership page referred to says: "Using the links below to acquire ADAC membership requires that your place of residence is in Germany."... so is it still available to UK residents?

We had a clutch go a couple of years ago in Austria. Managed to limp it back to campsite. Called the RAC, within an hour a tow truck had arrived to take it to a garage in Saalfelden, within the next half hour a taxi came and collected us and took us to the car hire place, brilliant service, got our car back a couple of days later with no disruption whatsoever to our holiday - well apart from the cost of a new clutch. Cant fault the RAC in the slightest. It was the top of the range RAC option.
