Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Thule CB-12 snow chains

Does anyone have any hands on experience of these snow chains ( they are £40ish on Amazon and I have a gift card!) I need some in the car for Easter trip to Flaine. Car is a skoda octavia estate with 205/50 r17 wheels.

Seen some RUD chains on another website for similar money. Are they are a much of a muchness at this price? A bit of a faf unless you've practiced? Hopefully they won't be used but obviously need them in the car in France.

Thanks

Those are of a basic generic design - however the key feature of such chains is the chain ratchet - you want all metal
Thule's are OK on that front

Practise before using for real - You really don't want to be putting a showchain on the first time in the dark, in deep snow with freezing hands
A snowchain coming off under motion can rip off brake lines etc , so getting them fitted right is important

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks for the advice. I've done chains a couple of times before but one was on a hire car and another a company car. Now it's on my own car and potential one that I will use again for this purpose n future years.

Sounds like the Thule ones will suffice. Fingers crossed they stay in the bag apart from when I'm putting them on at home.
