Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Looking very cold over the next few days

Hi Guys,

I'm heading back to Meribel this weekend (Thurs-Mon) with a mixed group of intermediates and beginners. Looking at the forecasts it's going to be pretty damn cold - wind chill of -18!

http://www.snow-forecast.com/resorts/Meribel/6day/mid

I've been to Meribel every March for the last 4 years and every year I've been perfectly fine skiing in a base layer and softshell jacket, often with the zip half undone. Is this likely to be that year where I wish I had a down mid-layer too, or are those numbers the extremes?

Are we in for a fun weekend of great skiing, or a very cold one with poor visibility?

Thanks[/url]

I would take another layer with you. So you don't have to pay meribel prices for one.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

That's not what MeteoFrance is suggesting http://www.meteofrance.com/previsions-meteo-montagne/meribel/73550

I'd believe them first.

The 2 forecasts are in reality not that different the snow-forecast temps are for 3000m while the meteofrance temps are for resort level. They do differ by a few degrees on Thursday meteoFrance suggests -2/-3 feels like -9 while the details from snow-forecast suggest -4/-5 both at resort level. Both are forecasting snow so visibility might not be great. I'd take the extra layer just in case. Smile

Cheers guys. So maybe not quite as extreme as -18, but worth packing a little extra than normal.

I've just looked at various weather reports for the coming few days and cannot believe how much they vary.
